The Future Public Worker needs to come from the Past

“Cursus honorum” Was the old Roman Public school for future state workers during the Roman Republic.

The idea was to form virtuous citizens in the service of the state. Controlling their character, behaviour and personal ambitions.

Catone was maybe the most brilliant example. He committed suicide seeing Giulio Cesare become a Perpetual Dictator, destroying all his hard work in respect for the institutions. A Roman needed years to become and important and influential political person. There was no space for adventurous new arrivals.
