When Richter, the poet of piano was playing in the Carnegie Hall in the year 1970: Soviet Citizens were allowed to listen to the live concert by radio. Was a true connection between the two antagonist political blocks, thanks to the culture. Even Russian Generals dreamed to go and live in the immensity of the American fields, have a farm, a Ford or a GM truck, a John Deere tractor and a beautiful family in freedom! Because Richter, our genial pianist, our poet is listened there, he is respected . America values culture over differences!
The USA got in their pocket the soul of millions of influential soviet citizens! Until a group of radical hater’s disrupted the live concert, insulted and humiliated Richter calling him Communist Pig, children killer, a symbol of the corruption of his regime, etc. Words are double sad if we think about it.
The police and security did nothing to put in order the scene, like this the people were talking or screaming for them as well! Richter went away forever of the USA and the Soviet Citizens that were listening in direct, learned that America was not better!
If you have freedom of speech but you never learned how to think, it is not freedom!
