Rome, Europe and the Moka

When Annibale surprised the Romans, crossing the Alps and projecting a direct attack to Rome, the Roman authorities were in shock that their armies were all around Europe, North Africa and Asia, without the possibilities to fight on time against Annibale! To conform a new contention army with citizens of the city of Rome, they understood that there was not human material for that. The people were to used to a good living and imposing a rigorous military training will degenerate into a Civil War.

So, when Europe claims the need to going in arms, training citizens and spending money we don’t have,

I just think about the military kitchen and the needs for Vegetarians, Vegans, Gluten Free diets and all the types of new age food disorders.

I remember that when I went with my grandfather to take an espresso at the bar, my grandmother was offended since she thought that there was no better coffee than this made with the Moka machine.

Now a-days the people are not happy with an espresso at the bar, they request things like: Macchiato freddo, macchiato caldo, marocchino, coffee in glass, a decaf coffee, orso coffee, and the different kinds of milk to use: almond, soja, and sheep milk. I think this is a picture of our consuming society and the defect of never to be happy.
