This was the main problem of Harry Haller, the main character of the Steppenwolf a book of Hermann Hesse (Nobel Prize 1946) a continued conflict in between the soul and the nature of the human being! Like they were two different things. To be sensible and to live in a consumer society or burghesia, where the main goal is money, and money is the synonym of success and power, and at the end this fake happiness, if you can’t represent it well with your face you can pay to customize it and make it a 100 point winner one. Harry, needed to escape of this human nature and tragedy, researching to fill and take care of his soul, only happy research daily, to write and to feel not as the human he was thinking, because humanity and it’s nature are opposite of the soul!
There are not many Harry’s now a day, and intellectuals, or at least
potential ones, just join the circus of the human nature.
