Gustavo GutiĆ©rrez, my university professor just died. He was already very old, but his ideas with the most strong and Socialist belief, still listen somewhere in my brain. I never meet a priest like him. He criticised almost all his colleagues and especially the power of Rome, like he was a defender of the most fragile persons from a colony during the Roman Empire. He showed me the true poor and injustice reflected shadow face of Lima, this Metropolis with 10 citizens and the possibilities of services for just 1 Million. Millions of orphans of the government since āindependenceā 200 years ago.
He (Gustavo Gutierrez) understood this, but he couldnāt accept that his institution just denied or be partner of this painful reality. With his book Teologia de la liberacion (1971) he opened a path of truth and action where there was no way back. He was targeted of the most implacable persecution from his own government (The Roman Church), but his voice was heard by hundreds of students.
He created in me a way to overview problematics and find solutions, because as he said: We know already the problems.
Wish you professor to continue to inspire the universe of knowledge in your new eternal form of life.
