Avraham The Taxi Driver

Before October 7, I took a taxi back to my apartment at HaYarkon Street in Tel Aviv; the driver, a young man of around 28 years old, was very polite and curious, in my opinion, and at the limit of being intrusive! He was always smiling as he understood I will not be the one saying my personal things so he started to talk about himself! About how happy he was, he didn’t have much money, he drove a cab, and was studying electronics. He needed to share a little apartment with 2 other students in the Universitary area of Tel Aviv! He served in the army, and he was ready to died for Israel. He didn’t go to Sinagoghe because people ask him what is new on his life; if he lives alone, if he have a girlfriend, if he stopped being a taxi driver, etc. He told me, that the taxi is his Sinagoghe, a temple of work, pray and knowledge, that he would like to live like me next to the sea, and it will happen after he goes to Canada to make a masters, to work there, and finish to develop his project; the taxi is right now a laboratory and experimental place. And he told me something else:Hashem is next to us, how he feels so good, even when he’s tired, how he can be so full inside if he is almost always alone, how he can feel so loved if he don’t have a girlfriend! He’s so rich of money, because he knows all he needs to buy even if he’s poor! At this point all that surrounded us appears to me like the dessert, full of palms next to the water, and the cab became a camel, like thousands of years ago! My taxi driver, become Abraham the first Jew, just he can think in this deep and faithful way! Am Yisrael Chai!
